The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) sends this message of solidarity and support to all library and information workers that have been affected by the recent severe weather events across the globe.

We have watched with mounting concern the unimaginable damage that has been done to communities across the world and our first hope is that people are safe from harm and that the most severe impacts recede quickly.

Looking ahead, we know that our library and information colleagues will be doing everything they can to help their communities make sense of these events and to begin to rebuild. We stand with you in this effort and are ready to offer whatever support we can.

In the longer-term, we believe that the global response to the impact of climate change on our environment must be evidence-based. Our profession has a role to play in supporting better, evidenced decision-making and in enabling dialogue so that we can work together worldwide with the hope of limiting such severe events in the future.
